Nova Radio - History

History

Nova Radio started life as 107.7 WFM and launched in October 1999 with jingles produced by Steve England, the original presenter line-up included Anthony Ballard (now at BFBS), Steve Carpenter, Chris Criddle (now working at The Breeze), Scott Temple (now working at The Breeze), and Andy Saunders (now at Cheddar's Pulse Radio).

The station was then later rebranded by new owners UKRD as a way of recognition of its existing Star brand. The station was then known as Star 107.7 before changing to Star Radio in North Somerset. In November 2009, Star Radio (North Somerset) was sold by UKRD and renamed Nova Radio on 26 September 2010 at 7am.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

... in a history of spiritual rupture, a social compact built on fantasy and collective secrets, poetry becomes more necessary than ever: it keeps the underground aquifers flowing; it is the liquid voice that can wear through stone.
    Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)

We said that the history of mankind depicts man; in the same way one can maintain that the history of science is science itself.
    Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (1749–1832)

Postmodernism is, almost by definition, a transitional cusp of social, cultural, economic and ideological history when modernism’s high-minded principles and preoccupations have ceased to function, but before they have been replaced with a totally new system of values. It represents a moment of suspension before the batteries are recharged for the new millennium, an acknowledgment that preceding the future is a strange and hybrid interregnum that might be called the last gasp of the past.
Gilbert Adair, British author, critic. Sunday Times: Books (London, April 21, 1991)
