NOS Journaal can also be heard on the radio channels of the Publieke Omroep. Short bulletins are broadcast on the top of every hour along with extended broadcasts on Radio 1 throughout the day. The latter broadcasts were formerly known as Het Radio-1 Journaal, but were rebranded as NOS Journaal (Radio) in December 2005.
The NOS Journaal has a distinctive news tune, which is aired to mark the beginning or the ending of a broadcast or timeslot. It was composed by Jeroen Kuitenbrouwer.
