In the 2011 Census, the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality had a population of 5,578 living in 2,178 of its 2,495 total dwellings, a -9.3% change from its 2006 population of 6,147. With a land area of 85,111.07 km2 (32,861.57 sq mi), it had a population density of 0.065538/km2 (0.169742/sq mi) in 2011. Prior to the census, the estimated 2011 population of the NRRM was 6,324.
