North Wildwood Beach Patrol

The North Wildwood Beach Patrol is a branch of the public works department in North Wildwood, New Jersey, responsible for the oversight, supervision, and regulation of beach patrons. It is responsible for the supervision of approximately 1.5 miles of public beaches, servicing thousands of bathers every summer. Lifeguards are certified in ocean rescue, land rescue, police assistance, and first aid and medical assistance, including CPR.

North Wildwood is located on the southern tip of New Jersey. North Wildwood, along with the cities of Wildwood and Wildwood Crest, make up a five-mile-long island that is separated from the mainland of New Jersey by bays and marshland ( ). The three cities together make up the world’s single largest free, public beach. The cities of North Wildwood, Wildwood and Wildwood Crest are independent cities with independent governments and public works; however, they often assist each in times of need and trouble.

Famous quotes containing the words north and/or beach:

I meet him at every turn. He is more alive than ever he was. He has earned immortality. He is not confined to North Elba nor to Kansas. He is no longer working in secret. He works in public, and in the clearest light that shines on this land.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

A young person is a person with nothing to learn
One who already knows that ice does not chill and fire does not burn . . .
It knows it can spend six hours in the sun on its first
day at the beach without ending up a skinless beet,
And it knows it can walk barefoot through the barn
without running a nail in its feet. . . .
    Meanwhile psychologists grow rich
Writing that the young are ones’ should not
    undermine the self-confidence of which.
    Ogden Nash (1902–1971)
