North Liverpool Extension Line - Planned Reopening

Planned Reopening

Proposals existed to reopen and electrify the line forming the eastern section of the Merseyrail Outer Loop. This section would run from Hunts Cross to Gateacre continuing north onto Broad Green, which would then turn west into Liverpool city centre or continue on north to Aintree. Parliamentary approval for the plans was obtained in 1975. However, this never materialised.

The line is protected for future use.

Famous quotes containing the word planned:

“If little planned is little sinned
But little need the grave distress.
What’s dying but a second wind?
    How but in zig-zag wantonness
Could trumpeter Michael be so brave?”
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
