Branch Lines
Three branch lines are on the line:
- The Onehunga Branch line connects with the North Auckland Line at Penrose and forms part of the route of MAXX Onehunga Line suburban passenger train services operating between Britomart and Onehunga via Newmarket.
- The Auckland–Newmarket Line, also known as the Newmarket Branch, meets the North Auckland Line in Newmarket and provides a connection with Britomart.
- Further north, the Dargaville Branch branches off in Waiotira. The Dargaville Branch also boasted of a branch of its own, built by the Kaihu Valley Railway Co, and running northwestwards to Kaihu and Donnelly's Crossing.
The Okaihau Branch formerly left the North Auckland Line in Otiria and the Riverhead Branch in Kumeu.

Famous quotes containing the words branch and/or lines:
“That mans the true Conservative
Who lops the mouldered branch away.”
—Alfred Tennyson (18091892)
“Indeed, I believe that in the future, when we shall have seized again, as we will seize if we are true to ourselves, our own fair part of commerce upon the sea, and when we shall have again our appropriate share of South American trade, that these railroads from St. Louis, touching deep harbors on the gulf, and communicating there with lines of steamships, shall touch the ports of South America and bring their tribute to you.”
—Benjamin Harrison (18331901)
