The North American Vexillological Association (NAVA) is a membership organization devoted to vexillology, the study of flags. It was founded in 1967 by American vexillologist Whitney Smith and others.
The association publishes Raven: A Journal of Vexillology, an annual scholarly journal, and NAVA News, a quarterly newsletter.
The association also honors achievement in the field with:
- The Whitney Award, named for Whitney Smith, awarded to outstanding contributors to North American vexillology;
- The William Driver Award, awarded at each annual meeting for the best paper; and
- The John Purcell Award (previously the Vexillonnare), which honors a significant success in activist vexillology.
NAVA is a charter member of the International Federation of Vexillological Associations (FIAV) and is among the largest vexillological organizations.

Famous quotes containing the words north, american and/or association:
“The Moons the North Winds cooky,”
—Vachel Lindsay (18791931)
“The death of William Tecumseh Sherman, which took place to-day at his residence in the city of New York at 1 oclock and 50 minutes p.m., is an event that will bring sorrow to the heart of every patriotic citizen. No living American was so loved and venerated as he.”
—Benjamin Harrison (18331901)
“It is not merely the likeness which is precious ... but the association and the sense of nearness involved in the thing ... the fact of the very shadow of the person lying there fixed forever! It is the very sanctification of portraits I thinkand it is not at all monstrous in me to say ... that I would rather have such a memorial of one I dearly loved, than the noblest Artists work ever produced.”
—Elizabeth Barrett Browning (18061861)
