Norbiton Railway Station - Station Facilities

Station Facilities

In February and March 2012 a secure, swipe-card accessible cycle park for 50 cycles was built on Platform 1 replacing the previous set of bike racks and shelters. This follows Norbiton's identification as London's 9th worst station for bicycle thefts in Transport for London's Cycle Security Plan.

During August 2009 the platforms were fenced with high steel railings prior to the installation of ticket barriers. During 2011 the single-width 'off-peak' gated exit from platform 2 was doubled in width in order to cope with the large numbers of passengers leaving the station when the barriers are not operational.

There is a 38 space car park and space for 5 vehicles reserved for South West Trains staff.

Famous quotes containing the words station and/or facilities:

How soon country people forget. When they fall in love with a city it is forever, and it is like forever. As though there never was a time when they didn’t love it. The minute they arrive at the train station or get off the ferry and glimpse the wide streets and the wasteful lamps lighting them, they know they are born for it. There, in a city, they are not so much new as themselves: their stronger, riskier selves.
    Toni Morrison (b. 1931)

Marriage is good enough for the lower classes: they have facilities for desertion that are denied to us.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)
