Non Resident Nepali Association

The Non Resident Nepali Association (गैर-आवासीय नेपाली संघ) is an association of Non Resident Nepalis (NRN in short).

Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) was established on 11 October, 2003 with the purpose of uniting and binding the Nepali Diaspora under one umbrella. It is the only global organization that networks with the people of Nepali origin who reside in many countries outside South Asia. With the Nepali Diaspora’s belief of “Once a Nepali Remaining Always a Nepali”, their network represented by NRNA has developed itself into a formidable force that can represent Nepali interest globally. Keeping this in mind, the Government of Nepal has given legal status to Nepali Diaspora by promulgating Non-Resident Nepali Act 2064. For practical purposes Nepali citizens living outside South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) member countries or the People of Nepali Origin (PNO) holding foreign nationality other than SAARC nations are considered as NRNs.

The NRNA, holding its motto "by Nepali for Nepali" has set the objectives to unite and bring Nepalis residing all over the world under one umbrella; to protect and promote their interest in and outside Nepal; and to utilize their potentials and resources for the welfare of Nepal.

To achieve these objectives the association conducts the following activities:

1. Promote and protect the rights and interest of Nepalis residing outside Nepal and to promote Nepal.

2. Coordination among Nepali communities and their organization to establish a global network and a common platform to represent the Nepali Diaspora.

3. Mobilize the knowledge, skills, capital and other resources in the disposal of NRNs for the socio-economic development of Nepal in coordination and partnership with the government, national and international institutions.

4. Preserve and promote Nepali culture and tourism globally.

5. Act as a catalyst in attracting and facilitating NRNs and foreign direct investment in Nepal.

Famous quotes containing the word association:

It is not merely the likeness which is precious ... but the association and the sense of nearness involved in the thing ... the fact of the very shadow of the person lying there fixed forever! It is the very sanctification of portraits I think—and it is not at all monstrous in me to say ... that I would rather have such a memorial of one I dearly loved, than the noblest Artist’s work ever produced.
    Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806–1861)
