Nolita Fairytale - Composition

Composition

"Nolita Fairytale" is composed in common time and is in the key of E♭ major. It follows the common verse-chorus format (strophic), with a bridge between the second and final repetitions of the chorus. However, each appearance of the refrain has the same melody but different lyrics. Unlike some of Carlton's other work, it is much more dependent on a rhythm section (especially percussion, as the intro and outro both feature drums) but the dominant instrument is still piano.

Famous quotes containing the word composition:

I live in the angle of a leaden wall, into whose composition was poured a little alloy of bell-metal. Often, in the repose of my mid-day, there reaches my ears a confused tintinnabulum from without. It is the noise of my contemporaries.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Pushkin’s composition is first of all and above all a phenomenon of style, and it is from this flowered rim that I have surveyed its seep of Arcadian country, the serpentine gleam of its imported brooks, the miniature blizzards imprisoned in round crystal, and the many-hued levels of literary parody blending in the melting distance.
    Vladimir Nabokov (1899–1977)

The naive notion that a mother naturally acquires the complex skills of childrearing simply because she has given birth now seems as absurd to me as enrolling in a nine-month class in composition and imagining that at the end of the course you are now prepared to begin writing War and Peace.
    Mary Kay Blakely (20th century)
