No. 450 Squadron RAAF - History

History

The squadron officially came into existence at RAAF Williamtown, near Newcastle, NSW, on 16 February 1941, four days after No. 451 Squadron. Both units were intended to be so-called "infiltration" squadrons, which would consist initially only of ground crew and would receive a nucleus of experienced pilots after arriving in their designated theatre of operations.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

All history is a record of the power of minorities, and of minorities of one.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The history of his present majesty, is a history of unremitting injuries and usurpations ... all of which have in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these states. To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world, for the truth of which we pledge a faith yet unsullied by falsehood.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)

America is, therefore the land of the future, where, in the ages that lie before us, the burden of the World’s history shall reveal itself. It is a land of desire for all those who are weary of the historical lumber-room of Old Europe.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)
