Nicky Rackard Cup

The Nicky Rackard Cup (Irish: Corn Nicoláis Mhic Riocaird) is a competition for the Tier 3 hurling teams of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. The tournament is organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association and is played during the summer months with the final being played in Croke Park, Dublin. The reigning champions are London, who beat Louth 2-20 to 0-11 in the final.

The winners of the Nicky Rackard trophy promote to the following year's Christy Ring Cup competition, the second of the four tiers. The cup and competition are named after Nicky Rackard, a famed hurler from Wexford and a member of a famous hurling family.

Famous quotes containing the word cup:

I write mainly for the kindly race of women. I am their sister, and in no way exempt from their sorrowful lot. I have drank [sic] the cup of their limitations to the dregs, and if my experience can help any sad or doubtful woman to outleap her own shadow, and to stand bravely out in the sunshine to meet her destiny, whatever it may be, I shall have done well; I have not written this book in vain.
    Amelia E. Barr (1831–1919)
