NHL Network (Canada)
NHL Network is a Canadian English language Category B specialty television channel broadcasting ice hockey programming. The channel's primary focus is on the National Hockey League (NHL), although it occasionally airs games from other leagues, such as minor league and international circuits, to fill its schedule.
The channel is owned by the NHL Network Inc., a venture consisting of the National Hockey League and three of its Canadian member franchises, CTV Specialty Television Inc., and Insight Sports Ltd. The network's ownership structure, which gives the league only a 11.6% interest, is due in part to foreign ownership restrictions for Canadian broadcasters, which prevents the NHL (owned by 30 member franchises of which 23 are based in the United States) from exercising majority ownership directly.

Famous quotes containing the word network:
“A culture may be conceived as a network of beliefs and purposes in which any string in the net pulls and is pulled by the others, thus perpetually changing the configuration of the whole. If the cultural element called morals takes on a new shape, we must ask what other strings have pulled it out of line. It cannot be one solitary string, nor even the strings nearby, for the network is three-dimensional at least.”
—Jacques Barzun (b. 1907)
