Early Years
Khánh was born in Trà Vinh in the Mekong Delta region in the far south of Vietnam. His mother ran a nightclub in the central highlands resort town of Đà Lạt that was popular with French colonial personnel, and lived away from the family home in the deep south. Famous quotes containing the words early and/or years:
“We can slide it
Rapidly backwards and forwards: we call this
Easing the spring. And rapidly backwards and forwards
The early bees are assaulting and fumbling the flowers:
They call it easing the Spring.”
—Henry Reed (19141986)

While subsequent children will strive to keep pace with siblings a few years their senior, the firstborn will always have a seemingly Herculean task of emulating his adult parents.”
—Marianne E. Neifert (20th century)
