Newcastle Blue Star F.C. was a football club based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It was established in 1930 and joined the Wearside League in 1973. In 1978, it won the FA Vase. Having won promotion to the Northern Premier League Premier Division at the end of the 2008/09 season via the play-offs, off field troubles led to the club winding up having never taken its place in the league. One of Blue Star's most notable former players is Andy Morrell who has now made a name for himself in the professional game.
Famous quotes containing the words blue and/or star:
“... Can poets thought
That springs from body and in body falls
Like this pure jet, now lost amid blue sky,
Now bathing lily leaf and fishs scale,
Be mimicry?”
—William Butler Yeats (18651939)
“A brush had left a crooked stroke
Of what was either cloud or smoke
From north to south across the blue;
A piercing little star was through.”
—Robert Frost (18741963)
