The New Music Seminar (NMS) is a conference and festival held annually in New York City. The New Music Seminar was originally launched in 1980, and ran through 1994, and was relaunched in 2009. The New Music Seminar features over 150 CEOs, Presidents, Founders, and leaders in the emerging music business along with over 100 artist performances. The mission of the New Music Seminar is to grow a sustainable and better music business that allows the creative cream to rise to the top. The NMS strives to enable more artists to achieve success and encourages new levels of investment in music and artists
In 2012, NMS hosted the first NMS New York Music Festival in collaboration with the New York City Mayor's Office of Media & Entertainment declaration of the city’s first New York Music Week. The festival took place in 17 venues throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Famous quotes containing the words music and/or seminar:
“The average educated man in America has about as much knowledge of what a political idea is as he has of the principles of counterpoint. Each is a thing used in politics or music which those fellows who practise politics or music manipulate somehow. Show him one and he will deny that it is politics at all. It must be corrupt or he will not recognize it. He has only seen dried figs. He has only thought dried thoughts. A live thought or a real idea is against the rules of his mind.”
—John Jay Chapman (18621933)
“A child of three cannot raise its chubby fist to its mouth to remove a piece of carpet which it is through eating, without being made the subject of a psychological seminar of child-welfare experts, and written up, along with five hundred other children of three who have put their hands to their mouths for the same reason.”
—Robert Benchley (18891945)
