New Democratic Party Socialist Caucus

The New Democratic Party Socialist Caucus is an unofficial left-wing faction within Canada's New Democratic Party. Its manifesto maintains that the New Democratic Party has moved too far to the right, and is in danger of becoming indistinguishable from the Liberal Party. Consequently, the Socialist Caucus also opposes Tony Blair's Third Way policies because they " the basic class and economic structures of capitalism unchanged." The policies of the socialist caucus are similar to the Socialist Campaign Group in the United Kingdom however, unlike the SCG, the Socialist Caucus does not enjoy the public support of any elected parliamentarians.

Famous quotes containing the words democratic, party and/or socialist:

There’s no such thing as socialism pure
Except as an abstraction of the mind.
    There’s only democratic socialism,
    Monarchic socialism, oligarchic
The last being what they seem to have in Russia.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

Last night, party at Lansdowne-House. Tonight, party at Lady Charlotte Greville’s—deplorable waste of time, and something of temper. Nothing imparted—nothing acquired—talking without ideas—if any thing like thought in my mind, it was not on the subjects on which we were gabbling. Heigho!—and in this way half London pass what is called life.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)

One is a socialist because one used to be one, no longer going to demonstrations, attending meetings, sending in one’s dues, in short, without paying.
    Michel de Certeau (1925–1986)
