Basic Tenets
The Network of Spiritual Progressives was founded based on three basic tenets:
- Changing the bottom line in America.
- Challenging the misuse of religion, God and spirit by the Religious Right.
- Challenging the many anti-religious and anti-spiritual assumptions and behaviors that have increasingly become part of the liberal culture.

Famous quotes containing the words basic and/or tenets:
“The universal moments of child rearing are in fact nothing less than a confrontation with the most basic problems of living in society: a facing through ones children of all the conflicts inherent in human relationships, a clarification of issues that were unresolved in ones own growing up. The experience of child rearing not only can strengthen one as an individual but also presents the opportunity to shape human relationships of the future.”
—Elaine Heffner (20th century)
“Indigenous to Minnesota, and almost completely ignored by its people, are the stark, unornamented, functional clusters of concreteMinnesotas grain elevators. These may be said to express unconsciously all the principles of modernism, being built for use only, with little regard for the tenets of esthetic design.”
—Federal Writers Project Of The Wor, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
