NeoMagic Corporation NASDAQ: NMGC is a fabless semiconductor company and supplier of low-power audio and video integrated circuits for mobile use (MagicMedia). NeoMagic designs and delivers consumer electronic device solutions with semiconductors and software offering exciting new product functionality for Video, TV, Imaging, Graphics, and Audio.
NeoMagic was a leader in VGA until the early 2000s, when it lost out to more-powerful, 3D-capable devices from other vendors. NeoMagic then entered the smartphone and handheld device market with its family of MiMagic devices, including the MiMagic 3, MiMagi 5, and MiMagic 6. Market acceptance was weak, and in September of 2008, NeoMagic laid off virtually all employees and ceased most operations. Certain devices continued to be sold from inventory, and via supplies from the fab company who had made the devices previously.
