Neil Francis (broadcaster)

Neil Francis (47) s a British DJ, and previously hosted the Friday evening slot on Absolute Radio and Absolute 80s. On his website, he describes himself as self-loathing, blasphemous, heretical, foul, pretentious, and sociopathic.

Francis's first big break in radio came in 1985 with a stint on North Sea pirate Radio Caroline and he has also worked as a presenter for Chiltern Radio in Herts/Beds/Bucks, Invicta FM in Kent and Capital FM in London.

In his Virgin Radio stint, Francis has presented the 1pm-4pm show and various other shows. In early 2007, he was "sidelined" to a fill-in DJ role also doing the Saturday Midnight-6am slot and Sunday 2am-8am Slot and was heard occasionally on the Sunday Night Show 7pm-Midnight but in July 2007, he became a full time presenter again, taking over the drivetime show from Ben Jones. He returned to the weekday afternoon slot on 3 December 2007.

After Virgin re-branded to Absolute Radio He began to present a Friday night show called Absolute 80's and a Saturday morning breakfast show.

Neil covered the drivetime Gold Network show on the 25th August 2010. His last regular weekly show on the network was Saturday afternoons from 1-3pm, when most stations on the network take local sport, thereby severely restricting any available audience.

During February 2011 he covered Steve Ladner on BBC Radio Kent's lunchtime show. Although the BBC said in April 2013: “Neil Francis is not employed by BBC Radio Kent. He is a freelance presenter who was last on the station in March 2012.”

In April 2013, Neil was suspended from Gold Network after apparently making comments about Jim Davidson (comedian) on Facebook.
