Nei Lak Shan (Chinese: 彌勒山) is the sixth highest hill in Hong Kong. With a height of 751 m (2,464 ft) on Lantau Island, it is situated immediately north of Ngong Ping where the Buddhist Po Lin Monastery is located. Nei Lak, or correctly Mei Lak is a Cantonese language translation of Maitreya, the future Buddha, in Buddhism.
An angle station of the Ngong Ping 360 cable car is located near Nei Lak Shan.
Famous quotes containing the word shan:
“It is strange but true that although we may have learned all sorts of important facts while raising our own children, when we become grandparents we still tend to forget a whole lot of things we knew.”
—Eda Le Shan (20th century)
