Ned Vizzini

Edison Price "Ned" Vizzini (born April 4, 1981) is an American writer. He is the author of four books for young adults including It's Kind of a Funny Story, which NPR named #56 of the "100 Best-Ever Teen Novels" of all time and which is the basis of the film of the same name.

He has written for MTV's Teen Wolf and for the ABC drama series Last Resort.

He is the author of the young adult novels The Other Normals and Be More Chill. He is the author of one book of non-fiction, Teen Angst? Naaah..., a memoir of his teen years. He is the co-author, with Chris Columbus, of the fantasy-adventure series House of Secrets. He began writing for the New York Press when he was 15 years of age.

His essays and criticism have appeared in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Review of Books, and Salon.

Vizzini has spoken at schools and libraries around the world about mental health, writing, and how students can use writing as a medicine for mental health. He has spoken at UCLA; The Dalton School; the Brooklyn, New York, and Chicago Public Libraries; Murray State University; NYU; The National Council of Teachers of English; and at a Master's Tea at Yale.
