Connection To Voronoi Diagram
For a given set of points in space, a Voronoi diagram is a decomposition of space into cells, one for each given point, so that anywhere in space, the closest given point is inside the cell. This is equivalent to nearest neighbour interpolation, by assigning the function value at the given point to all the points inside the cell. The figures on the right side show by colour the shape of the cells.

Famous quotes containing the words connection to, connection and/or diagram:
“One must always maintain ones connection to the past and yet ceaselessly pull away from it. To remain in touch with the past requires a love of memory. To remain in touch with the past requires a constant imaginative effort.”
—Gaston Bachelard (18841962)
“We say that the hour of death cannot be forecast, but when we say this we imagine that hour as placed in an obscure and distant future. It never occurs to us that it has any connection with the day already begun or that death could arrive this same afternoon, this afternoon which is so certain and which has every hour filled in advance.”
—Marcel Proust (18711922)
“Gods fire upon the wane,
A diagram hung there instead,
More women born than men.”
—William Butler Yeats (18651939)
