Nazi memorabilia are items of Nazi origin that are collected by museums and private individuals. Much of it comes from soldiers who collected small items as trophies during the Second World War.
Examples of Nazi memorabilia include swastika flags, items with Nazi emblems such as SS daggers, Nazi-era and other Nazi medals, and contemporary editions of Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf.
The sale of memorabilia is prohibited in some countries in Europe. In the year 2000, in France, the Internet portal site yahoo.com was sued by the Union of Jewish Students and the International League against Racism and Anti-Semitism for "justifying war crimes and crimes against humanity" by allowing such memorabilia to be sold via its auction pages. Yahoo!'s response was to ban the sale of Nazi memorabilia through its website. In 2003, a court in Paris cleared Yahoo!.
Auction website eBay also bans the sale of Nazi memorabilia.
