The National Trade Unions’ Federation (NTUF) is the sole national trade union center in Libya. It was formed in 1972 and is closely associated with the Libyan regime of Muammar al-Gaddafi.
ICTUR reports that:
No strikes have been reported for many years. According to the government, workers may strike but do not need to because they control their enterprises. External sources, however, reject this assessment.
The NTUF is affiliated with the World Federation of Trade Unions.
Famous quotes containing the words national, trade and/or federation:
“The progress
Is permanent like the preordained bulk
Of the First National Bank
Like fish sauce, but agreeable.”
—John Ashbery (b. 1927)
“Though in the trade of war I have slain men,
Yet do I hold it very stuff o the conscience
To do no contrived murder. I lack iniquity
Sometimes to do me service.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“Women realize that we are living in an ungoverned world. At heart we are all pacifists. We should love to talk it over with the war-makers, but they would not understand. Words are so inadequate, and we realize that the hatred must kill itself; so we give our men gladly, unselfishly, proudly, patriotically, since the world chooses to settle its disputes in the old barbarous way.”
—General Federation Of Womens Clubs (GFWC)
