National Priorities List - Public Comment Process

Public Comment Process

The public has the opportunity to comment on facilities that are proposed to be added to the National Priorities List. EPA publishes notices in the Federal Register listing the proposed facilities. The agency will consider all comments received within 60 days after publication in the Register. The complete set of comments are available to the public one week following the close of the comment period. EPA makes a final listing of decisions after considering all the relevant comments that were received during the comment period.

Famous quotes containing the words public, comment and/or process:

Any moral philosophy is exceedingly rare. This of Menu addresses our privacy more than most. It is a more private and familiar, and at the same time, a more public and universal word, than is spoken in parlor or pulpit nowadays.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

If I use the media, even with tricks, to publicise a black youth being shot in the back in Teaneck, New Jersey ... then I should be praised for it, and it’s more of a comment on them than me that it would take tricks to make them cover the loss of life.
    Al, Rev. Sharpton (b. 1954)

[Wellesley College] is about as meaningful to the educational process in America as a perfume factory is to the national economy.
    Nora Ephron (b. 1941)
