The National Informatics Centre (NIC) (Hindi: राष्ट्रीय सूचना विज्ञान केंद्र ) is the main science & technology organisation of India's Union Government in informatics services and information-and-communication- technology (ICT) applications. The NIC is a part of the Indian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology's Department of Information Technology.
It has played a pivotal role in steering e-governance applications in the governmental departments at national, state and district levels, enabling the improvement in, and a wider transparency of, government services. Almost all Indian-government websites come under NIC.

“To live and die amongst foreigners may seem less absurd than to live persecuted or tortured by one’s fellow countrymen.... But to emigrate is always to dismantle the centre of the world, and so to move into a lost, disoriented one of fragments.”
