Famous quotes containing the words national, image and/or collection:
“The word which gives the key to the national vice is waste. And people who are wasteful are not wise, neither can they remain young and vigorous. In order to transmute energy to higher and more subtle levels one must first conserve it.”
—Henry Miller (18911980)
“If the devil doesnt exist and, therefore, man has created him, he has created him in his own image and likeness.”
—Feodor Dostoyevsky (18211881)
“Bolkenstein, a Minister, was speaking on the Dutch programme from London, and he said that they ought to make a collection of diaries and letters after the war. Of course, they all made a rush at my diary immediately. Just imagine how interesting it would be if I were to publish a romance of the Secret Annexe. The title alone would be enough to make people think it was a detective story.”
—Anne Frank (19291945)
