National First Aid Society

National First Aid Society was founded by Clara Barton after her resignation from the American Red Cross. Its mission was to promote local first aid programs. It later became part of the American Red Cross.

Famous quotes containing the words national, aid and/or society:

I, with other Americans, have perhaps unduly resented the stream of criticism of American life ... more particularly have I resented the sneers at Main Street. For I have known that in the cottages that lay behind the street rested the strength of our national character.
    Herbert Hoover (1874–1964)

...women were fighting for limited freedom, the vote and more education. I wanted all the freedom, all the opportunity, all the equality there was in the world. I wanted to belong to the human race, not to a ladies’ aid society to the human race.
    Rheta Childe Dorr (1866–1948)

This century fulfills the office of road-laborer for the society of the future. We make the road, others will make the journey.
    Victor Hugo (1802–1885)
