National Democratic Party (Egypt) - Ideology

Ideology

The ideology of the Egypt NDP was vague, with stated goals of both social justice, and market reform.

The party ceased to be even a left-of-centre social-democratic party shortly after its formation, drifting sharply to the right and becoming a centrist "catch-all/big tent" party for members whose ideologies came from all over the political spectrum. Despite this and its increasingly authoritarian bent, the NDP was a member of the Socialist International up until January 31, 2011, when the embattled party was ousted and expelled from the group.

Famous quotes containing the word ideology:

Every sign is subject to the criteria of ideological evaluation.... The domain of ideology coincides with the domain of signs. They equate with one another. Wherever a sign is present, ideology is present, too. Everything ideological possesses semiotic value.
    —V.N. (Valintin Nikolaevic)

There is no religion in which everyday life is not considered a prison; there is no philosophy or ideology that does not think that we live in alienation.
    Eugène Ionesco (b. 1912)

The ideology of this America wants to establish reassurance through Imitation. But profit defeats ideology, because the consumers want to be thrilled not only by the guarantee of the Good but also by the shudder of the Bad.
    Umberto Eco (b. 1932)
