Today
As of 2006, the National Coalition of Free Men had 5 chapters from California to New York. In the spring of 2008, the organization changed its name to the National Coalition for Men.
NCFM championed the case of William Hetherington until his parole in 2009.
In 2009, after Chris Brown had pled guilty to felony assault of singer and then-girlfriend Rihanna, the NCFM issued a statement urging Rihanna to "woman up" and admit that she had assaulted Chris Brown first.
The NCFM supported a Republican version of the Violence Against Women Act in 2012. The organization argued that the bill written by Senate Democrats excluded heterosexual men and would empower "false accusers at the expense of true victims". The liberal Center for American Progress has criticized the NCFM for its stance on the issue.

Famous quotes containing the word today:
“The greatest block today in the way of womans emancipation is the church, the canon law, the Bible and the priesthood.”
—Elizabeth Cady Stanton (18151902)
“In communist society, where nobody has one exclusive sphere of activity but each can become accomplished in any branch he wishes, society regulates the general production and thus makes it possible for me to do one thing today and another tomorrow, to hunt in the morning, fish in the afternoon, rear cattle in the evening, criticize after dinner, just as I have a mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, shepherd or critic.”
—Karl Marx (18181883)
“Justice begins with the recognition of the necessity of sharing. The oldest law is that which regulates it, and this is still the most important law today and, as such, has remained the basic concern of all movements which have at heart the community of human activities and of human existence in general.”
—Elias Canetti (b. 1905)
