National Alliance To End Homelessness - History

History

While they achieved some success, the Committee decided to focus on the underlying causes of homelessness, including the lack of affordable housing. The resulting organization became known as the National Alliance to End Homelessness.

In 2000, the Alliance released A Plan, Not a Dream: How to End Homelessness in Ten Years. Since the release of this blueprint, there are 243 completed plans to end homelessness across the country.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

The history of the world is none other than the progress of the consciousness of freedom.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)

In the history of the United States, there is no continuity at all. You can cut through it anywhere and nothing on this side of the cut has anything to do with anything on the other side.
    Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)

In nature, all is useful, all is beautiful. It is therefore beautiful, because it is alive, moving, reproductive; it is therefore useful, because it is symmetrical and fair. Beauty will not come at the call of a legislature, nor will it repeat in England or America its history in Greece. It will come, as always, unannounced, and spring up between the feet of brave and earnest men.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
