Later Years
Nat Rothschild went blind during his final years. He died in 1870 during the Franco-Prussian War and his children and grandchildren showed little enthusiasm for the wine business. It would be 118 years later before Château Mouton, under the leadership of Nat's great-grandson Philippe de Rothschild (1902–88), would become the only French vineyard to ever achieve reclassification to first growth.

Famous quotes containing the word years:
“A broad margin of leisure is as beautiful in a mans life as in a book. Haste makes waste, no less in life than in housekeeping. Keep the time, observe the hours of the universe, not of the cars. What are threescore years and ten hurriedly and coarsely lived to moments of divine leisure in which your life is coincident with the life of the universe?”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“I spend so many times for skating, and I gave up so many hobbies for this ... the Olympics are four years in time. And I am old.”
—Ye Qiaobo (b. 1965)
