Famous quotes containing the words nathan, green and/or gordon:

The test of a real comedian is whether you laugh at him before he opens his mouth.
    —George Jean Nathan (1882–1958)

But bear in mind your lover’s wage
Is what your looking-glass can show,
And that he will turn green with rage
At all that is not pictured there.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

It is not one man nor a million, but the spirit of liberty that must be preserved. The waves which dash upon the shore are, one by one, broken, but the ocean conquers nevertheless. It overwhelms the Armada, it wears out the rock. In like manner, whatever the struggle of individuals, the great cause will gather strength.
    —George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)
