Marquardt's wife is named Tessa. The couple had their first child together, a daughter named Macaiah on May 18, 2010. Nate has a daughter named Emmalie from a previous relationship. Marquardt has an older brother who is in the United States Air Force.
He made a short cameo appearance in the beginning of MC Hammer's music video for the Jay-Z diss track, "Better Run Run" along with Brendan Schaub, Eliot Marshall, and trainer Trevor Wittman. Marquardt also had a small screen appearance in the movie Warrior as Karl "The Dane" Kruller.
