Famous quotes containing the words bus stop, bus and/or stop:

“Literature transforms and intensifies ordinary language, deviates systematically from everyday speech. If you approach me at a bus stop and murmur “Thou still unravished bride of quietness,” then I am instantly aware that I am in the presence of the literary.”
    —Terry Eagleton (b. 1943)

“There was an old man from Darjeeling
Who got on a bus bound for Ealing.
    It said at the door,
“Please don’t spit on the floor,”
So he carefully spat on the ceiling.”
    —Anonymous.

“Executives are like joggers. If you stop a jogger, he goes on running on the spot. If you drag an executive away from his business, he goes on running on the spot, pawing the ground, talking business. He never stops hurtling onwards, making decisions and executing them.”
    —Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
