Mulgrave School - Elective Program

Elective Program

Starting in the 2012-2013 school year The Mulgrave Middle school adopted a new elective program involving over 80 elective classes in which students have the option to choose the course that they wish to take. All students are required to take at least four (one for the first four days of the school week (Friday's are early dismissals)). These can range from classroom math electives to organizing job shadowing off campus. This change is currently being revised as electives are not giving out homework. Some parents feel that the students are not being pushed hard enough and hence are not learning as much as they should be. The topic is still being debated by the board, the administration and parents.

Famous quotes containing the words elective and/or program:

A politician never forgets the precarious nature of elective life. We have never established a practice of tenure in public office.
    Hubert H. Humphrey (1911–1978)

Indigenous to Minnesota, and almost completely ignored by its people, are the stark, unornamented, functional clusters of concrete—Minnesota’s grain elevators. These may be said to express unconsciously all the principles of modernism, being built for use only, with little regard for the tenets of esthetic design.
—Federal Writers’ Project Of The Wor, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
