Capture of Husrev & Damietta
Muhammad Ali gave control over the Cairo citadel to his Mameluke allies. Soon after, they marched against Husrev Pasha, who had been joined by a considerable number of Turks in a well-fortified position at Damietta. Hursev was defeated, captured, and brought to Cairo by the Albanians. The bashi-bazouks sacked Damietta, but Husrev was treated with respect.
