Diesel Engines
Diesel engines were built in the 1960s under the Maybach name and were fitted to railway locomotives including:
- British Rail Class 35, Maybach MD870 engine built under licence in UK by Bristol Siddeley
- British Rail Class 42, two Maybach MD650 engines built under licence in UK by Bristol-Siddeley
- British Rail Class 52, two Maybach MD655 engines
- DB Class V 160 (prototypes)
- Southern Pacific 9010, two Maybach MD870 engines
Later engines were built under the MTU name and installations include:
- British Rail Class 43 (HST) - rebuild
- DB Class V 160 (main series)
- The new 12V 1600 R80L is proposed as the power source for the Intercity Express Programme.
