MS Lady of Mann

MS Lady Of Mann

The MS Lady of Mann (II) was a side-loading car ferry built for and operated by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company. She was the second vessel in the line's history to be so named, the first being the company's "centenary steamer", RMS Lady of Mann which entered service in 1930. Lady of Mann was built in 1976 by Ailsa Shipbuilding in Troon, Scotland. She was probably the most popular vessel to ever serve the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, serving the company for 29 years.

In 2005 she was converted to a RORO ferry and was operated by SAOS Ferries in Greece under the name MS Panagia Soumela until she was reportedly scrapped in August 2011.

Famous quotes containing the words lady and/or mann:

    That when she essayed
    To drink lemonade,
She slipped through the straw and fell in.
—Unknown. There Was a Young Lady of Lynn (l. 3–5)

Hidden away amongst Aschenbach’s writing was a passage directly asserting that nearly all the great things that exist owe their existence to a defiant despite: it is despite grief and anguish, despite poverty, loneliness, bodily weakness, vice and passion and a thousand inhibitions, that they have come into being at all. But this was more than an observation, it was an experience, it was positively the formula of his life and his fame, the key to his work.
    —Thomas Mann (18751955)
