Movie Theater

A movie theater (also called a cinema, movie house, film house, film theater or picture house) is a venue, usually a building, for viewing film.

Most but not all movie theaters are commercial operations catering to the general public, who attend by purchasing a ticket. The movie is projected with a movie projector onto a large projection screen at the front of the auditorium. Most movie theaters are now equipped for digital cinema projection, removing the need to create and transport a physical film print.

Famous quotes containing the words movie and/or theater:

I discovered early in my movie work that a movie is never any better than the stupidest man connected with it. There are times when this distinction may be given to the writer or director. Most often it belongs to the producer.
    Ben Hecht (1893–1964)

Since people no longer attend church, theater remains as the only public service, and literature as the only private devotion.
    Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872)
