Movement 2 June

Movement 2 June (German: Bewegung 2. Juni) was a West German terrorist organization based in West Berlin. Active from 1971–1980, the anarchist group was one of the few violent groups at the time in West Germany. Although Movement 2 June did not share the same ideology as the Red Army Faction (Baader-Meinhof Gang), these extremist organizations were allies. The Movement 2 June did not establish as much influence in West Germany as their Marxist counterparts, but is best known for kidnapping West Berlin Mayoral candidate Peter Lorenz.

Famous quotes containing the words movement and/or june:

    What stunned me was the regular assertion that feminists were “anti-family.” . . . It was motherhood that got me into the movement in the first place. I became an activist after recognizing how excruciatingly personal the political was to me and my sons. It was the women’s movement that put self-esteem back into “just a housewife,” rescuing our intelligence from the junk pile of “instinct” and making it human, deliberate, powerful.
    Mary Kay Blakely (20th century)

    Ask me no more where Jove bestows,
    When June is past, the fading rose;
    For in your beauty’s orient deep
    These flowers, as in their causes, sleep.

    Ask me no more whither do stray
    The golden atoms of the day;
    For in pure love heaven did prepare
    Those powders to enrich your hair.
    Thomas Carew (1589–1639)
