Athletics and Recreation

The Cougar collegiate athletics program competed in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference until 2011. In 2012, they made the move to the CIS where they are a part of the Canada West. The Cougars compete in various sports including: hockey, basketball, volleyball, golf and soccer. Mount Royal Recreation enables students and the community to focus on healthy, active lifestyles through its facilities, services and programs. The Recreation Centre was expanded in 2002 and features five volleyball/basketball courts, a five-lane running track, fitness centre, pool, climbing and bouldering walls, multi-purpose studios and six squash courts. All credit students automatically become “recreation members” and receive member rates for all programs.

Famous quotes containing the word recreation:

Media mystifications should not obfuscate a simple, perceivable fact; Black teenage girls do not create poverty by having babies. Quite the contrary, they have babies at such a young age precisely because they are poor—because they do not have the opportunity to acquire an education, because meaningful, well-paying jobs and creative forms of recreation are not accessible to them ... because safe, effective forms of contraception are not available to them.
    Angela Davis (b. 1944)
