Mount Cook Group, earlier called Mount Cook and Southern Lakes Tourist Company was a New Zealand tourism and transport operator and former owner of Mount Cook Airline. The company was split and sold off in 1989, with the airline business becoming part of Air New Zealand.
Famous quotes containing the words mount, cook and/or group:
“For me chemistry represented an indefinite cloud of future potentialities which enveloped my life to come in black volutes torn by fiery flashes, like those which had hidden Mount Sinai. Like Moses, from that cloud I expected my law, the principle of order in me, around me, and in the world.... I would watch the buds swell in spring, the mica glint in the granite, my own hands, and I would say to myself: I will understand this, too, I will understand everything.”
—Primo Levi (19191987)
“How much more interesting an event is that mans supper who has just been forth in the snow to hunt, nay, you might say, steal, the fuel to cook it with! His bread and meat are sweet.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“around our group I could hear the wilderness listen.”
—William Stafford (19141941)
