Famous quotes containing the words morrow, mountain, state and/or park:

There are no signposts in the sky to show a man has passed that way before. There are no channels marked. The flier breaks each second into new uncharted seas.
    —Anne Morrow Lindbergh (b. 1906)

The most stupendous scenery ceases to be sublime when it becomes distinct, or in other words limited, and the imagination is no longer encouraged to exaggerate it. The actual height and breadth of a mountain or a waterfall are always ridiculously small; they are the imagined only that content us.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The menu was stewed liver and rice, fricassee of bones, and shredded dog biscuit. The dinner was greatly appreciated; the guests ate until they could eat no more, and Elisha Dyer’s dachshund so overtaxed its capacities that it fell unconscious by its plate and had to be carried home.
—For the State of Rhode Island, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

    Barbara Ehrenreich (b. 1941)
