Sexual Abuse Allegations
Moreau has had faculty who have been accused of sexually abusing students, as part of the nationwide sexual abuse scandal. Five ex-members of staff, including a Chaplain and two members of the clergy, have been named in regard to child sexual abuse allegations that are said to have occurred in the 1970s.
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops policy of 2002, since reaffirmed, has led to major reforms in the Church. The Diocese of Oakland continues its outreach, and has established policies for all schools, including Moreau Catholic, to follow.

Famous quotes containing the word abuse:
“Hence, the less government we have, the better, the fewer laws, and the less confided power. The antidote to this abuse of formal Government, is, the influence of private character, the growth of the Individual; the appearance of the principal to supersede the proxy; the appearance of the wise man, of whom the existing government, is, it must be owned, but a shabby imitation.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
