William Dollard (1842–1851) was the first bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saint John in Canada. Noel Dobbyn was runner-up in the Irish version of mastermind in 2007. James McDonald (1824-1890) and Walter McDonald (1830-1899) were important pioneering missionary priests in Auckland, New Zealand. Bob o Keeffe former president of the GAA and who the leinster senior hurling trophy is named after was born in Glengrant, Carrigeen. There is two versions of the Bob O keeffe cup. The old one (pre 2006) depicted a man it in bare feet, which is how Bob played. Bob O Keeffe also trained Laois to their only hurling All Ireland in 1915.
