Now chemicals are leaching from the site into the river, and soil and water samples have dangerous levels of Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The city of Montreal has announced a plan to plant willow trees on the site in an attempt to reduce pollution flowing from the site into the river.
