Monmouth Street may refer to:
- A major thoroughfare in Red Bank, New Jersey
- A street in Covent Garden, London, one of the constituents of Seven Dials
- A street in 18th century London, consisting of the part of modern Shaftesbury Avenue between Charing Cross Road (then called Hog Lane) and St. Giles's High Street. In the 18th century, it was known for selling second-hand clothes; in John Gay's 1716 poem Trivia, or the Art of Walking in London, he refers to it as "Thames-street gives Cheeses; Covent-garden Fruits; / Moor-fields old Books; and Monmouth-street old Suits."
Famous quotes containing the word street:
“What are you now? If we could touch one another,
if these our separate entities could come to grips,
clenched like a Chinese puzzle . . . yesterday
I stood in a crowded street that was live with people,
and no one spoke a word, and the morning shone.
Everyone silent, moving. . . . Take my hand. Speak to me.”
