- In Superman #276 (June 1974), an analogy to Captain Marvel appears named Captain Thunder who is given a compulsion to commit evil acts by his enemies the Monster League of Evil. This League includes Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, Wolf-Man, and the Mummy.
- In Alex Ross's 1996 miniseries Kingdom Come, Dr. Sivana was credited by Lex Luthor for creating a breed of mind-controlling worms before his death.
